1. What is the data in DRIP used for?

We use the data on the dam locations to improve our assessments of environmental impacts of dams. This allows us to better quantify trade-offs between the benefits (for example, hydropower generation, water storage) and the impacts of dams, which in turn may help to improve decision making.

2. How can I help to collect data?

You can help by identifying dams on satellite imagery and saving the locations. See here here for guidelines.

3. Do I need any special skills or equipment to contribute?

No! Just your eyes and a connection to the website.

4. What should I do if I entered a dam on a wrong location?

You can delete your own entries by clicking the dam and selecting delete in the pop-up window.

5. Why do I need to register before I can contribute?

We ask you to register to prevent that users accidentally delete entries of others. Also, the registration enables us to keep track of the efforts per person (and distribute mugs).

6. What do you do with my registration details?

The registration details are used only to track the number of dams per person. We do not use these data for anything else.
